In the Linea Nera series, I systematically disassemble stone blocks into their individual parts. I arrange these again and pull them together again with a set-in black line. The smooth surfaces created by the separation cut contrast with the surfaces that have been formed over years by natural environmental processes, including earlier machining marks. It was important to me not to work on the surfaces of the original stone block, but to leave them as they were created by years of external impact.
